England Won by 18 runs against West Indies:

In ICC cricket world cup 2011 36 th match England beat West Indies by 18 runs.that great victory for England.England produced an excellent bowling performance to hit back after a blistering West Indies start in their World Cup B clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.
England Won by 18 runs.England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bat in their crucial match against the West Indies in the World Cup Group A here at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday.
Once more upon the altar of pain, dear friends, once more. After three weeks in which their performances have fluctuated so wildly as to make Messrs Sublime and Ridiculous seem like siblings,England ’s World Cup campaign may have reached the end of the line. If they lose to the West Indies in Chennai today, they will finally go home after the longest and most memorable winter of them all.
The Ashes is the main part of 2010-11, of course – and you can celebrate it by buying 766 and All That, the Guardian Ashes book, for the reasonable price of £7.99, less than a pint of Foster’s shandy in some West End bars, from all good online book stores – but we’ll also remember their part in this World Cup for as long as we can say ‘I know a century off 50 balls is pretty slow by today’s standards, kid, but in those days…’. It’s been a madcap romp that has redefined the phrase ‘Kwik Cricket’ (take a picture of your nails now, and then in eight hours’ time).

England, who badly need to win the match to stay in the hunt for a quarter-final place, made three changes bringing in Chris Tremlett, Luke Wright and James Tredwell for James Anderson, Paul Collingwood and Ajmal Shahzad.
Graeme Swann gave England the much needed beakthrough as he claimed Kieron Pollard plump leg before the wicket reducing West Indies to 150/6 in 27.4 overs. Swann bowled a flatter delivery that spin into Pollard and kept low on the middle and leg stump, Pollard looked to work it to the on side, missed it and got rapped on the pads.
West Indies also effected a couple of changes with Chris Gayle replacing Shivnarine Chanderpaul and leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo making his debut in one-day internationals in place of Nikita Miller.

Victory will keep England’s hopes of making the quarter-finals alive but defeat will send their opponents, as well as India and Bangladesh, into the last eight.
West Indies have been bolstered for this match by the return of dynamic opening batsman Chris Gayle, who missed their 44-run win against Ireland last time out with an abdominal strain.
Unlike Group B, where only South Africa have so far assured qualification, all four qualifying spots in Group have been wrapped up by Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
